Battery prices to escalate in India as lead price pressure takes its toll

As rising lead prices add pressure to battery manufacturers, last week Exide Industries announced price increases of between 7.5 and 10 per cent in India.

Exide, India's biggest battery maker, increased prices by 5-6 percent in January and by a similar degree in April and June. Rival Amara Raja Batteries Ltd. also raised prices by 6 percent in April.

JCI announces preliminary China agreement

According to the Business Journal of Milwaukee Johnson Controls has announced a preliminary agreement to with Fengfan Ltd to manufacture, sell and service lead-acid starter batterises in China.
